Week 12 What's Next

So, I realized my existing market only consisted of Floridans- people who live in hot climates.  While their input is extremely helpful in giving me valuable information for my product (temperature-regulating cell phone cases) I realized I also need the input from people who live in or have experience living in very cold temperatures as well, since I want my product to be an all-climate temperature regulating phone case.

In my interviews below, the first three people are Floridians who know what it is like to receive the error message when their phones become overheated, and they were able to give me input on where I could go with my product and what key features they thought would make my product stand out.  Just like someone commented on one of my elevator pitches, one of my interviewees said she thought it would be a good idea to give the phone cases a waterproof feature as well, since the only time she has experienced the overheating error message was when she was by water either by the pool or at the beach.

The next three interviewees live in cold climates currently or have family back home who live in cold climates.  One of them explained how they thought the case was great for business people who need a reliable appliance and won't experience call-dropping when their phone gets too cold.  And another person stated that it would be great for people who are active live snowboarding and skiiers as well.  This gave me a good idea for the advertising side of my venture; maybe I could market to active people and business persons in ad campaigns.

  1. Analeis,

It seems like you got a lot of useful information from your interviews. You seem to have a good grasp on your target market and the geographical area where your case could be profitable. Making the case waterproof seems to be a very important addition, in which case you could work to compete with lifeproof. You may want to work to differentiate yourself more from the higher end phone cases. Great job on this assignment!

  2. Analeis,

I like your idea and product, I can definitely see it being successful for those people looking to protect their phones from that kind of damage. Nowadays, phones are more fragile than ever, and you could use that in your favor. Also, good job with the interviews! keep up the good work and feel free to check out my blog post here:

  3. Your idea is unique for sure. I know my phone gets quite hot during the summer, and I know that is not good for the phone. Cold climates can be equally bad as the cold can harm the battery and cause it to die faster. I think expanding to people up north may be even better than your original market, as they are more likely to have temperature effect their phone without realizing it.

  4. Hi Analeis, your idea is so great! I have never heard or thought about something like this and as a person whose phone overheats regularly I definitely appreciate that someone wants to do something about it. Good to hear you did research in both hot and cold climate, it’s really annoying when your battery dies when your phone is exposed to cold. Good luck!

  5. I think for your product to really stand out from competitors and to capture the attention of customers you will have to offer what the other cases offer plus the temperature regulating feature. Most people will not want to compromise between your temperature regulation feature and other features like shock and water resistance. If you can find a way to satisfy all their needs you have a successful product in your hands. Here is the link to my post: http://theentrepreneurperspective.blogspot.com.es/2016/04/whats-next.html

  6. Hello Analeis,
Great job on this post. I'm sure everyone has had the issue of a phone overheating and I think your idea is very innovative. It's great that you've done research as well - showing your dedication to your idea. Great job on grasping your idea and doing further research! Those are important steps in pursuing a venture.
Unfortunately, I did not complete this assignment.

  7. Hey Analeis,

I honestly think that your idea is really interesting! Your idea of expanding to people who live in cold climates is simple, but effective. I usually experience the same problem with overheating phones during the summer, however I never noticed anything different in the performance of the phone. You did a great job on the assignment! Thanks for sharing.

  8. Hey Analeis,

Great concept, I really love this idea. It definitely is an aspect of phone cases many phone case companies don't accommodate! I, whose lives in florida his entire life have gone through that same problematic notification at the beach and playing soccer. I think you received great feedback from the people you interviewed. Especially the advertising tip on targeting active people! check out my post if you want! https://vincityblog.wordpress.com/2016/04/03/week-12-whats-next/

  9. Your interviews were awesome to listen to. It was very interesting to hear all the different ideas that the people you interviewed. I liked the one that said to make the case waterproof because that would influence your potential market really well. I also like the idea of the solar panel on the phone. That was awesome to hear because the battery could charge through the sun.
